The Buried Chinatowns blog was created by Dr. Laura W. Ng (Assistant Prof. of Anthropology, Grinnell College) and is a public outreach component of community-engaged archaeological research on Chinese diasporic communities. The first Chinatown featured is the Evanston Chinatown in southwestern Wyoming, which was excavated between 1994 and 2009 by Dr. Dudley Gardner (Prof. Emeritus, Western Wyoming Community College) and in 2024 by Dr. Gardner and Dr. Ng. Most of the blog posts are written by Grinnell College undergraduate Research Assistants Evan Albaugh and George Matthes and feature an artifact. Subscribers include Chinese American descendants, research collaborators, archaeologists, and interested members of the public.
